CultureClic is the most complete culture and tourism on mobile application for France. Check out geolocated works in high definition, access French museum data sheets, and even find out about cultural events near you thanks to augmented reality. This amazing app is available free of charge on iPhone and, coming soon, on other mobile platforms.
CultureClic published by youARhere for Proxima Mobile, in partnership with the Bibliothèque nationale de France, the Réunion des musées nationaux and the Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication.
With CultureClic you can explore 900 geolocated paintings, photos and engravings. Most of them are located in Paris, but many are also in Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille and Avignon. These can be discovered and explored in augmented reality mode (iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 only, Android application soon available) or via maps and lists. It is a virtual exhibition that unfolds around you thanks to your mobile. A different way of discovering art and history.
Thanks to the Réunion des musées nationaux (national museums grouping) catalogue and the Bibliothèque nationale de France (national library) Gallica archives, you can take a journey through time. With augmented reality mode (iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 only, Android application soon available), you will see the place where you are located as it was several centuries ago: the Louvre in the olden days, the first photos of Notre Dame Cathedral, Pont Neuf or the Eiffel Tower under construction – and many more treasures.
You can find the 1,350 French museums, geolocated, with all practical information (opening times, prices, tickets, etc.) on the map or in augmented reality mode. It also tells you what’s on near you with more than 600 cultural events in France, taken from the Culture Portal (culture.fr) from the Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication, updated frequently. Currently, this application only covers France, but will evolve and include informations from other countries.
Future versions will contain new poetic and literary experiences with the Bibliothèque nationale de France and, of course, the CultureClic social network where you can find friends with the same interests, create a cultural community, build up an album with your favourites and share your discoveries on Facebook and twitter.
